Colosseo – 32 km
The Flavian Amphitheater, better known as the Colosseum, is considered one of the wonders of the world. Located in the center of Rome, it is the largest amphitheater in the world. The Colosseum has its origins in 72 AD when the emperor Vespasian decided to build a place to hold the famous gladiator games. The work was completed thanks to the second son of Vespasian, the emperor Domitian, who made some changes and embellishments to the entire structure such as, for example, the underground areas of the arena and the bronze decorations. Being in a central area, the Amphitheater is close to other places that can be visited. Moving on foot it is possible to visit the Roman Forum and the Campidoglio, famous squares such as Piazza Venezia and Piazza di Spagna. A little further away, but still within walking distance, are Piazza Navona, the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon.

Basilica di San Pietro – 36 km
St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, in Rome, considered the symbol and center of Catholicism, is the largest of the four Roman basilicas, and is located near the Apostolic Palace. Its construction began on April 18, 1506, during the pontificate of Pope Julius II, and was completed in 1626, with Pope Urban VIII. In the area occupied by the basilica, previously stood another church commissioned by the emperor Constantine, which dated back to the 4th century, and which was located on the area of Nero’s circus and an adjacent necropolis, where, according to tradition, St. Peter was buried. St. Peter’s Basilica is one of the largest buildings in the world, with a length of 218 meters, and a height of 133 meters. Its surface area reaches 23,000 square meters and its capacity is 60,000 people. Also worth a visit is the Sistine Chapel, famous throughout the world especially for the fresco on the vault, created by Michelangelo. To paint the 800 square meters of the ceiling, the painter and sculptor took about four years: he began in 1508 and completed the work in 1512.

Stazione Ferroviaria Pomezia-Santa Palomba – 12 km
The Pomezia – Santa Palomba railway station consists of five tracks on which Regional trains pass, all operated by Trenitalia, and which have as their destination Rome Termini, Naples Central, Formia, Campoleone, Villa Literno, Priverno, with a passage every twenty minutes on average. The Pomezia – Santa Palomba station building is not accessible to passengers with reduced mobility and is not equipped with toilets, automatic ticket machines, or a waiting room. Outside there is a car park and a bus stop.
